Chris Brammeld read music at the University of Nottingham, before taking a dual discipline MMus in composition and music education at Sheffield. In 2020, Chris completed a PhD in music composition at the University of Cambridge. He also holds a PGCE in secondary music education. In 2022, Forton Music began to publish a series of Chris's chamber music. Outside his composing activities, Chris is Head of Instrumental Music at Caterham School, and Artistic Director of Penkhull Festival of Music and Art, an annual event in Stoke-on-Trent which brings world class music and art to the city.
Chris's compositions include chamber, vocal and choral works, as well as two ballets, orchestral compositions and arrangements, wind band music and music for children and amateur performers. His music has been performed widely in the UK, Europe, Asia and North America, at Presteigne Festival, Penkhull Festival, Cambridge University, Kettle's Yard, the Hertfordshire Chamber Music Series, the Adrian Boult Hall in Birmingham and St John’s, Smith Square. Performers and commissioners of Chris's work include the Tippett Quartet, Ligeti Quartet, Britten Sinfonia, Donna Lennard, Julien Van Mellaerts, Greg Hallam, Mimi Doulton, Robert Thompson, Simon Callaghan, Jocelyn Freeman, Amy Dickson, London Youth Choir, the National Youth Chamber Choir, and VOCES8. www.chrisbrammeldmusic.com |
