Penkhull Festival 2024 Thursday 19th - Saturday 21st September
This year Penkhull Festival continues to offer a plethora of musical and artistic delights for festival-goers to enjoy. Our Thursday concert is a recital given by clarinettist Sarah Douglas with duo partner, pianist Amy Wakefield. Sarah and Amy will treat us to some greats of the clarinet repertoire, alongside some lesser-known gems. There is some beautiful repertoire for this relatively rare chamber ensemble, so definitely not a concert to be missed. On the Friday night, renowned keyboardists the Scott Brothers Duo (Jonathan Scott and Tom Scott) will give a virtuoso performance of four-hands piano music. This dazzling duo will surely be a popular addition to this year's programme; both are well-known in the area.
Our finale concert this year really is something special. The Opera Makers - a collective of versatile and innovative performers - will present an evening of arias from world-famous operas. Four singers, one piano, one exceptional night of music making. Again - not one to miss.
We develop our artistic remit this year, with a special talk on the relationship between music and art, by artist and art historian Michael Howard. As usual, our creative partners Trent Art will curate an art exhibition of the highest quality. Our education work continues unabated, with Ex Cathedra coming to Penkhull to deliver two singing workshops for local primary schools. Ex Cathedra's work is known and revered the world over, and we are fortunate to be able to welcome them back to the festival for a second year.
Penkhull Festival continues to offer discounted tickets for those lucky enough to be under 25, for students, and for children. We also introduce a discounted ticket this year if you wish to purchase tickets for all three concerts.
I look forward to welcoming you to our wonderful festival in September.
