This evening’s concert gives you the opportunity to see Apollo5 on their return visit to the festival. Praised for their powerful singing and distinctive sound, this award-winning British vocal ensemble proves how dynamic only five voices can be. With such small forces they are able to showcase each individual voice while still achieving their critically acclaimed blend.
Whether performing jazz, pop, classical or even early sacred music, they are known for their exceptional communication with audiences, frequently performing from memory. Apollo5 enjoys a busy world-wide concert diary, as well as being committed to providing inspiring musical opportunities for young people
and communities.

Students of Newcastle-under-Lyme School
Talented musicians from Newcastle-under-Lyme School present their annual lunchtime recital at the Festival. The May Walley award, given for outstanding musicianship, will be presented by the Artistic Director.
Admission is free and tickets are not required.
There will be a retiring collection in aid of the Festival Development Fund.

Back by popular demand on Friday evening is the Equinox Saxophone Ensemble who wowed the audience on their previous visit to Penkhull. Again this is a group of musicians who explore the whole range of music and use their saxophones to take
on many personalities. Come along, as this talented group of musicians make sure that their concerts are accessible and enjoyable for a wide audience.

Our closing concert is Vivaldi’s Four Seasons by candlelight. This collection of four concerti is quite simply among the most famous music ever written - and for good reason. Vivaldi’s music is by turns vibrant, sad, exhilarating, melancholy, jubilant, dangerous.
Renowned cellist, Karen Stephenson, has worked with our Artistic Director, Dr Chris Brammeld, to create a unique adaptation of the original score for violin. The programme includes a new arrangement of Tchaikovsky’s “The Seasons” featuring our new Festival Orchestra.
